Mr. Abu Farah Md. Nasser has been appointed as a Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank as per the Circular No: 53.00.0000.311.11.001.18-113 of Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance, Peoples` Republic of Bangladesh dated 14 March, 2021. He assumed his responsibilities on 15 March 2021.
Prior to the appointment, Mr. Abu Farah Md. Nasser served as Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank overseeing the functions of Banking Regulation and Policy Department, SME & Special Programmes Department and Department of Currency Management.
Mr. Nasser began his career as an Assistant Director on 10th October 1988 in Bangladesh Bank. During his more than 32 years as a career central banker, he served Human Resources Department, Banking Regulation and Policy Department, Department of Banking Inspection and Accounts & Budgeting Department, Chottogram Office and Sylhet office of Bangladesh Bank in different positions. He also served in Microcredit Regulatory Authority as a Director from 02.01.2011 to 25.02.2014 on Deputation.
Mr. Abu Farah Md. Nasser was born in Comilla in a respectable Muslim family on 24 February 1962. He had completed his B.Com (Hons.) and M.com in Accounting from University of Dhaka. He is a Diplomaed Associate of Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh.
In his illustrious career, Mr. Nasser visited many Countries to attend various courses, seminars and conferences organized by international institutions; notably, World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB) & The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB).
