Chittagong office is an operational office of Bangladesh Bank and is headed by an Executive Director. Chittagong office is one of the important branch of Bangladesh Bank as it is situated in the port city as well as in the commercial capital of Bangladesh. The Chittagong office of the then State Bank Of Pakistan started functioning through opening Foreign Exchange Control Department on 12th July, 1948. Thereafter, full-pledged banking function had started from 15th July 1952. After liberation Bangladesh Bank started working from 16th December 1971 as per Bangladesh Bank order 1972.
Chittagong office works as per policies & guidelines given by Head office. The districts under the jurisdiction of this office are Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Banderban, Rangamati, Khagrachari, Noakhali, Feni, Laxmipur, Comilla, Chandpur.

To supervise/inspect and monitor the activities of Commercial Banks (including Krishi Bank, Specialized Bank, Islami Bank) & Financial Institutions at regular interval.
