Ahmed Jamal
Deputy Governor, Bangladesh Bank

Mr. Ahmed Jamal has been appointed as the Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank on March 01, 2018 to June 30, 2023. As the Deputy Governor he is now performing his responsibilities in Foreign Exchange Policy Department, Foreign Exchange Investment Department, Foreign Exchange Operation Department, Human Resources Department-1 & 2, Payment Systems Department, Financial Stability Department, Debt Management Department, Sustainable Finance Department, Expenditure Management Department-1 & 2, Law Department, Department of Communications and Publications and Security Management Department. He is also the Project Director of Investment Promotion and Financing Facility II (IPFF II) Project Financed by World Bank and Govt. of Bangladesh.

Mr. Ahmed Jamal had completed his B.Com (Hons.) and in Accounting from Rajshahi University. He also achieved Post Graduate Diploma in Bank Management from Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management. He is a Diplomaed Associate of Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh.


Joining at Bangladesh Bank on July 28, 1984 as Officer Class-1, Mr. Ahmed Jamal Served in various Departments. He had been the General Manager of Foreign Exchange Policy Department and Department of Foreign Exchange Inspection in Head Office. Besides Head Office, he also served in Motijheel office, Khulna office, Rangpur office and Bogura office of Bangladesh Bank. During his career progression in Bangladesh Bank, he has always been promoted on accelerated merit quota basis. He was a honorable Member of Wage Earners' welfare Board and Steering Committee of National Board of Revenue. Furthermore, he was an observer of the Board of Directors of AB Bank Ltd, Premier Bank Ltd, ICB Islamic Bank Ltd and Janata Bank Ltd.

During his more than 33 years of central banking career, he visited USA, UK, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Malaysia, Switzerland, Germany, Thailand, Indonesia, India, South Korea, Turkey, Philippines, Singapore & United Arab Emirates to attend various training courses, seminars and conferences.
