I understand that over the course of last one year or so, Bangladesh Bank Quarterly has emerged as the leading publication of Bangladesh Bank summarizing quarterly economic and financial developments, thanks to the effort of my predecessor. I believe economic policymakers, financial market participants, international organizations, students and researchers both at home and abroad find it a useful source of reference to obtain latest information and analysis on macroeconomic and financial sector issues. To ensure wider access it has also been put on the website of Bangladesh Bank. Among other things, this issue contains an Annex outlining the nature and causes of recent movements in the foreign exchange and money markets as well as the policy response, which I think will be of great interest to the readers. Since taking over as Governor I have emphasized the need for sound analysis of issues as the basis for policymaking and encouraged the editorial board to extend the coverage of the Quarterly to include new issues and innovations. We are also in touch with concerned agencies of the government to further improve the quality of data. As before we welcome your suggestions and views on these and other related matters
