Mr. Md. Abul Quasem is appointed as the Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank on July 07, 2011. As the Deputy Governor he is performing his responsibilities in Department of Currency Management and Payment System, Accounts & Budgeting Department, Debt Management Department, Special Studies Cell, SME & Special Programmes Department, Department of Printing and Publications, Common Services Department-1 ,Common Services Department-2 ,Investment Promotion & Financing Facility Project Cell and Expenditure Management Department. Prior to his appointment in this post, he was an Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank from September 12, 2005 to July 06, 2011 During this period he accomplished his duties in Human Resources Department, Agricultural Credit Department, SME and Special Programs Department, Department of Offsite Supervision, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit , Foreign Exchange Reserve and Treasury Management Department, Department of Financial Institution and Market, Investment Promotion and Financing Facility (IPFF) :a World Bank project financing infrastructure, and Internal Audit Department of Bangladesh Bank. |

Mr. Quasem was born in December 2, 1953 in Paikan of Monohardi upzilla in Narsingdi district. He passed the S.S.C. and H.S.C examinations respectively in 1968 and 1970 from Dhaka Board. He completed his B.S.S. (Hons.) in Economics and M.S.S. in Economics respectively in 1973 and 1974 from University of Dhaka. Mr. Md. Abul Quasem Joined Bangladesh Bank as an Assistant Director in 1976. With his excellent performance he was gradually promoted to the post of General Manager in Bangladesh Bank. During the tenure of General Manager from June 02, 1997 to September 11, 2005 he worked for Sylhet Office, Financial Institutions Department, Motijheel Office, Bangladesh Bank Training Academy, Rajshahi Office, Chittagong Office of Bangladesh Bank.
During his 33 years of working in Bangladesh Bank Mr. Quasem attended many domestic trainings and foreign trainings in different international organizations in various countries like the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway, Egypt, China, Indonesia, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Nepal, etc.
